If you've got suggestions on how to increase my boot time, or on things I have not checked yet, please do comment.

Both Windows, my BIOS and all other drivers on my PC are completely up-to-date. My BIOS also contains an MSI Fast Boot option, but after reading about it online this doesn't seem to have a lot of advantages when booting from an SSD. I made sure fast-boot is enabled both in the control panel and in the BIOS. The PC doesn't have a lot of software installed, only the basics since it's brand new, and except for my anti-virus, Windows Defender and iCue for my lighting, all of it has been disabled on startup. My PC is a Windows 11 64-bit system (clean install), which has the OS installed on an m.2 SSD (SeaGate FireCuda 530 2TB) and an MSI Z690-Edge WiFi motherboard. From the next screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart to make changes.

After having tried a load of different things and ran a lot of checks, I decided to ask here. To access these settings, you can consult your PC manufacturer’s documentation or follow these instructions: Run Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and select Restart now under Advanced startup. Open Startup from Apps on your Windows 11s Settings app (or if you are reading this article on a Windows 11 device simply click here to open Startup Apps. My old pc, which was 8 years old, booted faster than this one. Actually, Splash Screen is designed by Microsoft or developer of an application and takes 3-5 second of time to show and welcome you. From the windows splash screen to my logon screen is around 25.47 seconds.I've recently buildt my own pc (and had a blast doing so), but I've found that it takes a terribly long time to boot. Is it fast (around sub 5 seconds) from when it goes to show the Windows loading splash to getting to desktop at least? And, keep in mind that many boards (like our Asus) have options by default to replace the Windows logo with a Republic of Gamers one.įor Unlawful Carnal Knowledge původně napsal:įrom cold boot i see the rog bios screen then the rog windows loading screen. I guess that Dell board/BIOS is faster than my other two custom build boards (both Asus) are.īut your situation is entirely going to revolve around potentially changing BIOS settings, or dealing with the fastest the board will get through the BIOS process to handing it off to the SSD to start loading the OS. Interestingly, my laptop boots the fastest, and it has the slowest stuff in it. I've seen times between 20 and 30 commonly on my system too (but it says 13.6 currently) so no clue, but all my systems have booted roughly similarly since I got an SSD (I'm counting time from cold boot power on to desktop) so I never really fussed with the details. Your drive itself probably won't impact that any really, since that is time spend BEFORE the system is handed of to load whatever is on the SSD. Right, and that would be the "last BIOS time" I was mentioning. (see screenshot below) 5 You will see your Windows restart time shortly after the computer has finished restarting and you are back on the desktop.

If you find the image you like you can save it somewhere (rename it of course) and set it to be your lock screen or desktop image as you wish. 4 When prompted, close all running apps, then press a key or click/tap on OK to restart Windows.

Check if the status of the app you want to launch is Disabled. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc shortcut keys to launch Task Manager. Right click on one, use 'open with' and select 'Paint' which should display the file image. If the Windows 11 Startup Apps does not start as expected, the first thing to do is to check if the program is configured to start at boot time. No it's what it tells when i open task manager and then click startup it tells you in the upper right hand corner of task manager below the tabs. The larger ones (say above 200K or so) are most likely lock screen images.

Illusion of Progress původně napsal:Is that the "last BIOS boot time" or a rough approximation of the the Windows loading screen to desktop time? If it's the former, that doesn't seem too bad to me, but I've only used Windows 10 on one PC so I don't have much to go off of.
